BWHS is a pilot centre for the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification (WBQ).
In August 2009, 28 students in Year 13 gained the Advanced WBQ, giving them an additional A grade at A level. The WBQ does not replace A levels. It gives students a well-deserved recognition for their skills and experiences in the enriched Sixth Form Curriculum.
We are pleased with the A Level results this year, again there were many outstanding results and we send our congratulations to all students. They will move on to the university of their choice or have a gap year. 47% of all exams taken achieved the top grade A.

We are delighted again with this year’s GCSE results. 23.6% of all exam grades were at A* - A grade. At least 65% of pupils gained the Level 2 Threshold, which is at least 5 A* – C grades. There were many outstanding performances and every pupil gained at least 1 qualification. A large percentage of the year group will be returning to the Sixth Form.
