
Miss Elin Wozencraft has taken over the position of 5x60 Officer from Mr. Adam Morgan. She can be located in her office opposite E1 or by email at elinw@builth-hs.powys.sch.uk
The 5x60 scheme is a Welsh Assembly initiative aimed at getting secondary school pupils active for 60 minutes, five times per week. The whole ethos of 5x60 is about fun and enjoyment through physical activity. The activities take place at lunchtimes, after school and weekends for all pupils. The 6th Form have also been getting involved with coaching and helping out as part of their key skills. If any parents/carers are interested in coaching or volunteering to help out, please contact Elin at school.
The activities currently on offer are: Athletics; Tennis; Streetdance; All School Gymnastics; Talented Gymnastics; Not 4 Girls Gymnastics; Badminton; Girls Only Multi Gym; Skateboarding; Netball; Dance; Hockey; Volleyball; Squash; Rugby; Girls Football; Canoe Club.




Our Y9 Girls Football team did ever so well in the Urdd tournament on Thursday, 13th May winning two and drawing two games to take them into the semi finals.They narrowly lost 2-1 to miss out on the final placing. They finished an excellent joint 3rd place out of 11 teams. The girls were playing at the bottom of their age group with Y 10s in the competition. Their excellent football skills were matched by their excellent behaviour both on and off the pitch. Well done girls!

On 24th April 2010 our Canoe Club completed a 5 mile paddle from Glasbury to Hay-on-Wye. They are currently in training to compete in the Welsh Schools Canoe Championship in Llanelli. Good Luck to all.






A group of dancers who have been regularly attending the 5x60 dance clubs in school came 2nd in this year's Urdd Disco Dance competition. The costumes were made by 5x60 Officer Emily Kendrick. Da Iawn pawb!

12 pupils in total took part in the 6 week block of sessions and some pupils have gone on to join the local judo club

Football Tournament at Half Term in Builth Sports Centre. Four teams entered from Years 7 & 8. The winners were the Average Joes who received medals. All competitors received a prize.


Archery Day Saturday, 23rd May at Builth Sports Centre. Run by Mid Wales Foresters, completely free - no charge. 40 people in total took the chance to have a go.



10 pupils and 3 members of staff, which included Emily Kendrick the 5x60 Officer, went to the Heart of Wales Riding School in Penybont. A fabulous taster session which was enjoyed by all.
