'No. 1 Organic'
'No. 1 Organic' is the first organic schools fruit and vegetable co-operative in Powys. Organic produce is delivered to the school every Friday and pupils cheerfully give up their morning breaktime to weigh and bag the fruit and veg then deliver to staff and collect payments and orders for the following week. The pupils are learning more about what produce is in season, having fun improving their maths skills and very happy that the staff are supporting their venture. Many thanks to Jenni from the Rurual Regeneration Unit for helping us to set up our project and for her on-going help and advice, to Simon from Organic Revolution who delivers the produce every week and James from Organic Revolution who supplies us with all the produce.

BBC Breathing Places - Tree O'Clock

The Eco Group took part in the BBC Breathing Places 'Tree O'Clock' Guinness World Record attempt to plant a record number of trees on 5th December, 2009. Over 230,000 new native trees were planted and a Guinness World record was achieved for the most number of trees planted at a single location. A team of volunteers at Gransha Park, Derry, Northern Ireland managed to plant a tree-mendous 26,422 trees within an hour. Mr. George Jenkins, the Site Manager (Grounds) planted our Oak tree which was very kindly donated by Jules from Free Tree in Nantmel.

Some members of the Eco Group raised some extra funds by running a "Guess how many sweets in the jar" competition at the school Winter Fair in December. Mrs. Kath Williams, Head of the English Department was the lucky winner.
Members of the Eco Group spent several sessions making decorations for the Library Christmas tree. They used recycled cardboard boxes and added glitter for some extra sparkle.
